In the paintings, drawings and collages of Mauricio Piza, things and signs hook into one another in imaginary archipelagos. In the exhibition, the gaze is led on a stroll through the artist’s repertoires, invited to retrace the paths he travelled in building his “landscape contraptions”. Set in motion by compositional and chromatic games, Mauricio’s icons and forms recall gears that drive one another. On the canvases, the elements are poetically juxtaposed according to a geometry at once uncertain and minutely calculated; as a whole, they generate constant movement, both within the paintings and in the imagination of those who look at them.
