Arcádia Caipira

“Oh, my Arcádia Caipira, my backcountry corner, land of mountains, of scrubland and mist, where the eyes of animals glow on moonless nights. Land of echoes on the cliffs, of hollows in the trunks and marmosets in the hollows, of the thud in the thick foliage, of streams leaping down the gorges, of springs gushing inspiration, bubbling in the late afternoon. Land of the not-yet; land of the never-again. Land of the country guitar, where agoutis and capybaras graze; paradise. Land of poetry and of shepherds and shepherdesses on the porch, of storms far away and of light that pours in and slips out through the gaps. Land of thunder and pink breeze. Spontaneous land, free, with neither weight nor sorrow. How I miss what I never knew. Oh, how I long for the future.”
